I am praying that the nuclear reactors don't leak. I am praying that there can be peace and restoration of harmony.

Ishvara Pranidhana: Surrender to the Divine

Yoga can be defined as union of body, mind and spirit. Yoga has many definitions, benefits and meanings. My yoga practice is like going to church, meditation, masseuse, chiropractor, psychologist, doctor and phys. ed. all in one. It is a spiritual practice that maintains my physical, energetic, emotional, skeletal and nervous systems. Yoga is beyond words, it is an experiential understanding. My practice continues to inspire and humble me, in such a beautiful way. I absolutely love yoga!

As a masseuse I know that human beings thrive with touch. Many studies have documented this fact, including working with new born babies, and people with illnesses. I personally believe that the healing power of touch with compassionate love is immense. This is a fundamental element in Taoist and Tantric teachings. Personally, I value touch, affection and love; I love love, and expressing it in kind gestures, caresses, words, and actions. My spirit is an expression of love.

I have found that often in my life, my 'yearning for the beloved' has been a source of a wealth of feelings, emotions, challenges and growth. I am continually remembering that the 'beloved' is everywhere, within myself, in nature, in God, in the lovely people whom I see. Yet, I have always carried a deeper yearning, for my partner in love, my companion, in a healthy, supportive, committed, loving relationship. That is a beautiful dream; however, it is not manifest and the lack of it can be the source of much sadness. I vacillate between rising above my needs, and looking at the spiritual truths regarding true nature of the self and union with the beloved, as in Divine Spirit/God; yet, as a human being there is still a need for love, connection, intimacy and touch.

So, this dance continues, between wanting, not needing, rising above, yearning........etc. All the while I continue the dance of daily life. The mind is a powerful thing, and it's patterns are hard to break, no matter how many times I rise above my need for connection and intimacy, the program is entrained. I see it exist for others, and I know it is possible, yet it continues to elude me.

These thoughts can create feelings of sadness and negative emotions, which can be disruptive for my yoga practice and well being. That is where that real practice begins, in not letting my mental and emotional states deter my yogic practice. By commiting to do my daily Ashtanga yoga practice, I set aside (even if it be temporarily) any disturbances and fluctuations of the mind. Breath by breath I am present in the moment, uniting body, mind and spirit in this presence.

The beauty of it is, that soon enough the joy of yoga supercedes the fluctuations of the mind, sadness and negative emotions. By the time I am half way thru my practice I have experienced all the love, joy and touch that I craved from the beloved. Sweaty, steamy, stretchy, expansive, intimate, present, gentle, strong, loving and supportive......all the qualities that a good, loving 'session' should contain!

Then it is time for savasana, a time of rest and repose, allowing for the nervous, energetic and physical bodies to integrate the benefits of the practice. I rise from my mat feeling completely refreshed and all my needs for true connection are met. I smile.....knowing that once again I have been my greatest lover, and through yoga I have 'union with the Divine', which is in me. Resting in a state of Advaita Vedanta (non-duality) I cherish my blessings, and am love, loved, the lover and beloved. May this state of grace be always with me.

Ishvara Pranidhana: offering all to the Divine, seeing all as Divine, surrendering to the Divine. Ishvara pranidhana is a means to the ultimate unified state of yoga: Samadhi; dissolving the endless agitations of the mind. It is a path to freedom of the egoic concepts of "I" and individual concerns and perspectives that create the dualistic concept of seperation. It is a path to grace, peace, clarity, and unconditional love.....for all, including myself.

I have so much gratitude, inspiration and joy flowing through me for all the Blessings I receive.

I feel a shift has occured with the past 12.21.10 Eclipse/Solstice/Full Moon. The energies had been building through the year with powerful planetary alignments, creating intense pressure perfect for personal growth in self, relationship to others, environment, and reality.

As I passed through periods of despair and sometimes disabling discouragement I berated myself for not being positively happy, fully content, and fully manifesting. Yes, I felt Gratitude for my blessings, yet still feelings of sadness that my life not what I had hoped, dreamed and wished for at this time, or how challenging and difficult it can be. I questioned the source of these feelings and perception, from a spiritual perspective. My spiritual tools that had carried me thus far in life was somehow not always enough in this time. I was being challenged, riding waves of emotions, being dispassionately unattached at best.

Bewildered by the less than beautiful perspective and ennui, I intuited that I was learning the last and deepest lessons that were holding me back from a move forward to my next level of Evolution. I sensed if I just relaxed and let go of my feelings of discontent with my discontentment, and just breathed to get through those moments, that those moments would add up to be time, and time passes and heals all wounds right? So, I relaxed (not always with grace), I breathed (sometimes shallowly, sometimes with great vigor in yoga), and I let those moments pass.

Thank Heavens for Yoga, which was my thread of clarity, grounding me in truth in the present moment breath by breath. Thankful also to have a sanctuary, sacred space in my home to pass through this process. Thankful for the loved ones who supported me, believed in me, and reflected positive love to me.

Surprisingly, although the actual Eclipse moment didn't meet my 'ideal' standards of an enlightened and awakening moment........it did create a shift. An alignment did happened, and I did receive that Galactic intunement. I have realigned, remembered and reactiveated my truth, my destiny and my purpose here on this planet. (And it certainly isn't to feel bad and sorry about myself!)

I am here to shine my light, to be bright, to be brilliant! I am here to share, to love, to teach, to heal. I have studied and learned and shall always be a humble student....I am also a teacher; and I have a responsibility to teach what I have been blessed to learn.

I am ready.

I am inspired.

I am Blessed.

I am Gratitude.

I chose Abundance. I chose Life. I chose to Love myself and others as Divine BeIngs of Energy and Light.

I share this with you in hopes that it touches your heart and brightens your light.

May you also be empowered and activated in your truth.

We are on the verge of experiencing a very powerful astronomical configuration. Winter Solstice during a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse. I am so happy to announce that we raised $1484.00 for Haiti via Doctors Without Borders!

The event was a wonderful sharing of dance & music, with contributions from many people in our community; dancers, musicians, photo/videographers, dj's and much more. I wish to say Mahalo to all of those that contributed their time, energy, prayers & funds!

Ironically during the closing prayer we received news of the earthquake in Chile, and the potential tsunami projected to hit Kauai the following day. Thankfully Kauai was protected, with no tsunami hit. I am holding Chile and her people in my prayers. If able, I shall contribute in some way to their well being; perhaps another fundraiser event? I would be honored to offer my gifts, talents & prayer in action to the benefit of those in need.

Blue Moon~Lunar Eclipse New Years Eve 2010

Blue Moon in Cancer, partial Lunar Eclipse. What a powerful way to begin 2010, a New Year, a New Decade.

What a wonderful time to affirm our intentions, prayers & visions for a new paradigm. We are so blessed to be alive at this time. I feel so much gratitude, love & appreciation for all the abundance, health, life, love, family, friends, community, gifts and teachers in my life. I am thankful for this beautiful aina, Kauai, and her waters. I bless and honor my aumakua (guides). I honor all my relations.

Astrologically, the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Pluto, & the North Node are all in Capricorn. Focusing energy on integrity and consequences, Capricorn teaches us about maturity and responsibility. The Sun in Capricorn points us toward where we need to be, dedicated and impeccable in our commitments. The Moon in Cancer illuminates what we need in order to accomplish our goals, the kind of physical, emotional, and spiritual nourishment necessary to fulfill our destiny. This Cancer-Capricorn Full Moon/eclipse reminds us that we have essentially two choices: We can either act or react; choose to move forward or hold on to old paradigms.

This is also a SuperMoon, where the Moon is both perigee (closest to the Earth) and syzygy (in line with the Sun and Earth). SuperMoons intensify the gravitational pulls of the Sun and Moon, generating higher tides both on large bodies of water and on the fluids in our body.

Lunar eclipses are an even more precise alignment of the Sun, Moon, and Earth; where the Moon passses through the shadow of the Earth. This briefly interrupts solar and lunar electromagnetic flows supporting existing patterns; making it easier for us to release and reform at a higher level. What has been in the shadows, below the threshold of awareness, is more easily accessed and expressed. We see more clearly where we are and where we need to go.

In essence, this is a very powerful Blue Moon. If you are blessed to live near the ocean, go to her and receive a cleansing, and rejuvenation of your auric fields. Bathe in the negative charged ions, realign your intentions, and recommit to accomplishing your life purpose. It is a wonderful time to release any negative patterns or energies that do not serve your highest potential or growth. A cosmically charged time to reflect on your intention and focus on manifesting your dreams.

With that said, I am going to wish all a blessed New Year, and may your frustrations transform to positive fruitions. May you be blessed with peace, health, happiness, abundance, joy & love. May all your relations be in harmony. May you realize and attain your life purpose & your highest potential.

I have just come from the ocean, I am truly blessed; and as I write this blog, the beautiful sunny day is transforming. A powerful energy is gathering. Outside it is now swirling with strong winds, causing trees to bend, creak & sing as leaves dance thru the air. The sky darkens as clouds swell with rain gathering in the sky. What Divinity! Pure sweet waters fall from the heavens. Mahalo ke Akua! (Thank you Creator/Great Spirit!)

Yogaahhhhh!

What a beautiful present to my self on this Christmas morning! For that is what we really need, to be present in the moment & cultivate presence with the true nature of self; which I believe is Divine Spirit. I am not speaking of the egoic self; which is much like a wild horse, running incessantly on the Great Plains of illusion; never quite satisfied, rarely calm or pacified! No, it is our higher consciousness that I refer to. We are more than human animals; we are cosmic consciousness, Divine Beings, blessed with many gifts & the ability to choose.

Thankfully, we have been blessed with such a gift of life, that each breath holds the key to presence in the moment. Each inspiration assists us to open up to new possibilities & expansive horizons, each exhalation grounds us in the physical, allowing us to root and realign. This ongoing cycle of inhalation and exhalation allows us to be a channel of the universal energies, a conduit of the heavenly energies and earth energies. Like alchemist, we distill the essences of these energies, the MANA~PRANA~CHI; combining with it our pure intentions, thus we glean the elixir of life. That is truly a priceless gift.

This holiday season is often a time of gift giving, in honor of the abundance of our own gifts, we celebrate. When filling your sack of gifts to share, remember the effects upon the global environment. What is the carbon footprint of the gift you give? Consider giving gifts of the heart, such as: your precious time, a massage, an herbal bath or homemade spa day, a home cooked meal, read a book to a child, help start a garden, or offer a much needed service to a friend. Please, remember the 5 Rs, Reduse, Reuse, Recycle, Renew & Restore. Making gifts can be fun, and creative. Every dollar, euro, yen or baht we spend is a vote; make your vote count, choose wisely, go Green! Think Global, act Local. Support your local organic farmers & creative artisians. I encourage you to be creative and conscious in this and all times. For we are living in crucial times!

So, ho ho ho........ with those thoughts I will go. I hope that you have much happiness and joy. May this time be full of blessings and abundance; may you and yours be blessed with peace, health & happiness..........in the body, mind & spirit.

Fleur de vie~Flower of Life

Blessings to all on this Winter Solstice. May our path be clear, may our spirits be light and radiant of love, and may we be grounded in the physical with pure health.

Today I was blessed with a Fleur de Vie symbol, my favorite Sacred Geometry yantra. I am wearing it on my skin, near my solar plexus; may it resonate sacred vibrations thru me, and may it inspire those whom I see. As multi dimensional beings, we are all inter-connected and inter-related; in a fractile universe. The healing of one, is the healing of a nation.

I support the evolution & healing of all beings, and I send my love to the universe. I express my gratitude for all my blessings, this life, this breath, and all the sacred teachings.

Sacred geometry~ the body is a temple. Honor this gift of life, and make each breath a prayer.

दया Daya: Sanskrit for compassion, sympathy is a divine quality and moral virtue.

दया DAYA:
Daya or Compassion, is a fundamental teaching of the Sikh religion. The other four qualities in the arsenal are: Truth (Sat), Contentment (Santokh), Humility(Nimrata) and Love (Pyar). These five qualities are essential to a Sikh and it is their duty to meditate and recite the Gurbani so that these virtues become a part of their mind.

This concept says to not ignore tragedies that take place in the world but to face them head-on and do whatever is possible within ones means.

DAYA (usually spelt daia in Punjabi), from Sanskrit "Day" meaning to sympathize with, to have pity on, stands for compassion, sympathy. It means‘suffering in the suffering of all others’. It is deeper and more positive in sentiment than sympathy. Daya, cognitively, observes alien pain; affectively, it gets touched by it and moves with affectional responses for the sufferer; and cognitively it moves one to act mercifully, pityingly, with kindness and forgiveness. Daya is antithetical to hinsa (violence).

Daya is a divine quality and a moral virtue highly prized in all religious traditions. In the Sikh Scripture, mahadaial (super compassionate), daiapati (lord of compassion), daial dev (merciful god), karima, rahima (the merciful one), etc., have been used as attributive names of God “Keep your heart content and cherish compassion for others; this way alone can your holy vow be fulfilled” (GG 299).
